What is it? The Collective Leadership Initiative (CLI), developed by the Center for Creative Leadership (CCL) in partnership with The Colorado Health Foundation (TCHF), is a vibrant leadership development program that fosters collaboration and transformation to enhance health equity across Colorado. The initiative comprises four diverse programs, each uniquely designed to empower communities and catalyze positive change. There is no cost to participate in these programs; CCL and TCHF are committed to developing leaders in non-traditional settings across Colorado, which requires removing financial barriers to participate in leadership development programs. Rooted in TCHF’s mission to uplift the health of Coloradans, the CLI focuses on amplifying the voices and perspectives of those in historically oppressed, ignored, and unseen communities.
Why is the CLI unique? The CLI adopts a human-centered, trauma-informed approach, adapting to the unique needs and aspirations of its participants. It celebrates emotional intelligence and identity, particularly in BIPOC and LGBTQ+ communities, fostering an environment of respect, connection and understanding. CLI empowers individuals by giving them agency, fostering trust, building credibility, and developing relationships. It emphasizes the importance of humility and transformation in leadership. The initiative’s origin story, rooted in empathy and a deep commitment to serving communities, adds a unique dimension to its mission and approach.
Why is the CLI important? The CLI is a catalyst for change, addressing vital issues like health disparities and access to resources. It nurtures social cohesion and facilitates community conversations, to foster a sense of unity and shared purpose. By honing leadership capabilities and examining systems and culture, CLI plays a pivotal role in fostering collective efficacy and expanding community power. It embodies TCHF’s vision of health as a basic human right and its mission to make health accessible for all Coloradans.
