Partnering for Better Health
About
the Initiative
The Collective Leadership Initiative (CLI), developed by the Center for Creative Leadership (CCL) in partnership with The Colorado Health Foundation (TCHF), is a vibrant leadership development program that fosters collaboration and transformation to enhance health equity across Colorado. The initiative comprises six diverse programs, each uniquely designed to empower communities and catalyze positive change.
Prepare to “break through” the limits that have been placed on you as a leader, and soar to new heights!
Learn how to effectively “make space” for others in building community across local cultures.
Connect virtually with other emerging leaders and build partnerships to work together to achieve health equity on “your time".
"All hands" are on deck for this journey, as we come together to tackle real issues facing the Northeast region of Colorado.
Partner with individuals that are actively working to make changes towards a more health equitable Colorado and "spotlight" opportunities in policy and advocacy.
Come together with a cohort of peers who work in roles that promote housing security to “spotlight” health equity barriers pertaining to the housing industry.
Overview of Programs
Our team is here to support members of the CLI community all along the journey.
“The CLI staff were very accessible and helpful, but I really appreciate how they acknowledged we were working professionals. I wasn't really prepared for the time required, but rather than be scolded, the message was you can do this and your contribution is valuable. ”

We bring together individuals across Colorado – regardless of job title, skill level or experience.
We encourage individuals from underrepresented or historically excluded groups in Colorado to apply, such as people of color, low-income communities, and rural communities. This includes individuals in formal and informal leadership roles across sectors.
The Collective Leadership Initiative (CLI), developed by the Center for Creative Leadership (CCL) in partnership with The Colorado Health Foundation (TCHF), is a vibrant leadership development program that fosters collaboration and transformation to enhance health equity across Colorado. The initiative comprises a variety of community leadership programs, each uniquely designed to empower communities and catalyze positive change. There is no cost to participate in these programs; CCL and TCHF are committed to developing leaders in non-traditional settings across Colorado, which requires removing financial barriers to participate in leadership development programs. Rooted in TCHF’s mission to uplift the health of Coloradans, the initiative focuses on amplifying the voices and perspectives of those in historically oppressed, ignored, and unseen communities.
The Collective Leadership Initiative (CLI)
The guiding vision for the CLI is cultivating diverse, adaptive leaders who prioritize health, exercise influence and work across boundaries to strengthen community connections and action. Our purpose is to strengthen individual, organizational and network capacity to improve health and increase health equity, so that people and institutions are equipped to address health inequities and work together to solve health challenges.
Health Equity
The initiative adopts a human-centered, trauma-informed approach to leadership development, adapting to the unique needs and aspirations of its participants. The community that is formed through classroom experiences celebrates lived experiences in leadership, particularly in BIPOC and LGBTQ+ communities; and fosters an environment of respect, connection and understanding. Within the CLI community, individuals are empowered through a renewed sense of personal agency, confidence, credibility, and trusting, collaborative relationships. Programs emphasize the importance of humility and transformation in leadership. The initiative’s origin story, rooted in empathy and a deep commitment to serving communities, adds a unique dimension to its mission and approach.
Human-Centered
The CLI is a catalyst for change, addressing vital issues like health disparities and access to resources. It nurtures social cohesion and facilitates community conversations, to foster a sense of unity and shared purpose.
By honing leadership capabilities and enhancing organizational structures, CLI plays a pivotal role in fostering collective efficacy and expanding community power. It embodies TCHF's vision of health as a basic human right and its mission to make health accessible for all Coloradans.
Catalyst for Change
Our Partners
We believe in the power of collaboration and building strong relationships with organizations that share our values and goals. Our community partners play a vital role in supporting our initiatives and helping us make a positive impact on society. Our Alumni members represent these incredible organizations who have come together to improve health equity across the state.
Each of our community partners brings a unique set of skills and experiences to the table. Some focus on providing food, health services, and resources directly, while others specialize in systemic and policy change. Together, we form a network of like-minded organizations working to increase health equity for all citizens of Colorado.
These partnerships are not just about a logo on a website; they are about working together, exchanging ideas, and creating meaningful change. We have carefully selected our community partners based on their expertise, shared vision, and commitment to inclusivity, diversity, and social progress.
As a nonprofit, we believe that leadership is the critical lever for igniting positive, transformative, and sustainable change, at a time when the world requires new thinking and vision to solve both local and global challenges.
Ever since our founding in 1970, our mission has been to advance the understanding, practice, and development of leadership for the benefit of society worldwide. We strive to make the world a better place through more effective leadership.
The Colorado Health Foundation is bringing health in reach for all Coloradans by engaging closely with communities across the state through investing, policy advocacy, learning and capacity building. We believe investing in the development of strong, diverse, and dynamic leaders is essential to create fair opportunities for those in which health is furthest from reach.
The Community Language Cooperative (CLC) provides interpretation services, focus groups, and inclusivity/diversity training to make community, academic and governmental events more accessible for all. We help remove barriers and broaden opportunities for participation and community engagement by non-English speakers and train organizations on implementation of inclusivity practices.
